Grow Me Instead (GMI) is an initiative of the Nursery and Garden Industry Australia (NGIA) promoting a positive change in the attitude of both industry and consumers toward invasive plants.
The Grow Me Instead program covers the whole of Australia, with each state and territory having its specific lists of pest plants and suggested alternatives.
NGISA has distributed 28,000 GMI booklets within SA through our network of garden centres and through various NRM regional Boards and garden clubs.
The invasive plant list for South Australia is not definitive; there are many other plants being monitored for their invasive potential. Industry and the public are encouraged to seek professional advice and to make the most informed plant choice possible.
The information is available via the printed booklet or online at www.growmeinstead.com.au
Funding from Biosecurity SA, the NRM Boards of the Adelaide & Mt Lofty Ranges, Arid Lands, Murray Darling Basin and the South East and SA Power Networks enabled the updating of the booklet for SA for its most recent edition.
